In-Person at the Museum: Wednesday, June 25 to Friday, June 27, 2025
Registration Fee: $20.00 (reimbursed with successful completion of all class requirements)
Stipend: $250 paid with successful completion of all class requirements)

This three-day immersive experience invites educators to investigate the role of judicial review throughout America’s history, Jim Crow Recreation for Black Americans, primary resource analysis techniques, and Moton Museum history. We are thrilled to be partnering with the John Marshall House and to be returning to Twin Lakes State Park. Teachers will have two weeks to finish all deliverables for a suggested 60 recertification points.

Moton is offering three mandatory onsite days with two weeks to complete the online Canvas portion. Teachers will have food and lodging covered for these three days. We want the experience to be as equitable as possible. Teachers will receive a $250 stipend upon successful course completion. This stipend will refund the $20 registration fee.

The course is based on the Moton Museum’s permanent exhibition, ‘Moton School Story: Children of Courage.’ Teachers will engage with recorded lectures, review Civil Rights, Massive Resistance, and Desegregation histories, and create potential programming for their classroom. The class will cover Moton Museum history along with providing primary source analysis tools and research techniques.  Learn More.
